How Labor plans to fix housing, not!
By Borre Winckel, President & CEO

Last Friday, San Diego Councilmember Georgette Gomez launched the biggest wages grab for Labor masked as a Robin Hood affordable housing program. While San Diego suffers its worst housing cost crisis, Labor Council’s City Hall Rep files their housing (in)action plan. Folks, it’s not about housing. It’s about higher pay for the unionized trades.

Her proposal comes the Friday before Council President Myrtle Cole’s highly anticipated Housing Action Day held Monday, July 24th Ms. Gomez also promises a LA-like Measure JJJ on our November 2018 ballot. Not good.
We can only hope that the housing reforms previously proposed by Mayor Faulconer and separately by Council members Sherman and Alvarez will out-house Ms. Gomez’s plans by making all new homes more affordable to own or rent.
You think housing is unaffordable today? Ha! You ain’t seen nothing yet.
