Council Committee Seeks More Live Work Options

The San Diego Smart Growth and Land Use Committee will consider modifications to allow more live/work quarters throughout the city.
The ordinance was changed in March to allow live/work in regional and neighborhood commercial zones but still had tight restrictions on uses and sizes. Under the revised proposal, work use restrictions would be eliminated and the minimum floor area would be reduced from 750 square feet to 500 square feet. Additional parking requirements would also be removed. Live/work is a component of Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s HousingSD action plan intended to address the city’s housing crisis. The Committee will consider the regulations when it convenes on Wednesday.
