BIA Cares Makes Big Donations
BIA Cares, the charitable arm of the Building Industry Association, has provided $10,000 in financial support to CRISIS HOUSE and $5,000 to DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES CONTINUUM.
BIA Cares is partnering with the International Code Council of San Diego, Home Depot and the City of El Cajon to provide installation of a photovoltaic system to help the organization negate the mounting utility costs of its building. Crisis House is the only Emergency Resource Center serving the homeless in East San Diego County and provides humanitarian services to those in crisis. The agency is a hub for information, referrals, and services that address abuse, food insecurity, healthcare, and homelessness. The men, women, and children supported struggle daily to overcome complex and challenging circumstances, including domestic violence, addiction, health conditions, and lack of access to food and housing. Crisis House assists people of all races, ethnicities, and ages, including the physically and mentally challenged. Crisis House responds immediately to connect people to services that can help resolve life-endangering situations so they can renew their lives.
Developmental Services Continuum, Inc. has been successfully providing supports to children and adults with developmental disabilities since 1982. DSC is a private non-profit agency providing services for adults and children with developmental disabilities who have not been successful in other facilities by BIA providing environments that encourage individual growth and independence. Funding from BIA Cares will support replacement of windows at DSC’s “Tommy Home”, an Adult Residential Facility providing 24-hour care to six individuals.
