Campaign 2020 Well Underway
By Matt Adams
Candidates looking to get mayor Kevin Faucolner’s job in 2020 wasted little time making their intentions known now that the November elections are in the rear view mirror.
San Diego Councilmember Barbara Bry and Assemblymember Todd Gloria have formally announced their campaigns to take over for the termed out Mayor. That’s begun a cascade of events as District 3 Councilmember Chris Ward declared his intention to run for Gloria’s Assembly seat which he leaves behind in his pursuit of the Mayor’s chair. That means there will be three open seats up for grabs on the San Diego city council in the next election cycle. While 2020 seems somewhat away for most people, in the political universe the primary is just a scant 14 months away. Expect more announcements in the coming weeks.
