Thank you for making the 2019 Backpack Drive a success! BIA Cares completed its 5th Annual Backpack Drive with a July 27th event at Westlake Village development in San Marcos. This year backpacks were distributed to residents of National CORE and Hope Through Housing Foundation’s five developments in San Marcos and South County.

The National CORE not only supports local families with affordable housing but also provides social services onsite. BIA Cares handed out 200 backpacks and school supplies to very excited and grateful children. An additional 150 backpacks will be distributed to National CORE’s South County communities. San Marcos Mayor Mayor Rebecca Jones, joined Jessica Nishiura (event chair) and BIA Cares Board members to hand out packs to the youngsters.

National CORE arranged for a family oriented event which included hosted lunch, raffle prizes, face painting and college and health educational booths.  BIA CARES thanks all who donated to this wonderful project, the excitement and pride exhibited by the students receiving backpacks was priceless.
