BIA Cares Donates $18,000 to Local Charities

In the first quarter of this year, BIA Cares has donated $18,000 to local charities and programs.  “BIA Cares is proud to be a conduit for the Association’s charitable outreach in San Diego County”, stated Ryan Martin, President of BIA Cares.

Big Animals for Little Kids – $1,000

Volunteers dress in animal costumes and visit at-risk children in homeless shelters, hospitals, convalescent homes and residential facilities.

Emilio Nares Foundation – $2,000

“Ride with Emelio” program helps underprivileged children with cancer in San Diego and Orange County access their treatments, programs and services.

Point Loma Optimist Club – $1,500

“Friends of the Flag” program which places American Flags along Rosecrans each weekend.

San Diego Children’s Choir – $2,500

Funding to support “Neighborhood Choir Program” serving children who do not have music programs in their schools or are not able to afford instruments or lessons.

Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair – $1,000 in Awards

Awards for three students for projects submitted with building or construction related themes.

Alpha Project – $10,000

Support for Alpha Square Apartments, located at 14th and Market Street in the East Village.  The project will be a mixed-use new construction development producing 203 high efficiency micro-apartments of 250-350 square feet and will target low and very low income individuals in Downtown San Diego.

BIA CARES, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, is the philanthropic arm of the Building Industry Association of San Diego County.  Founded in 1990, BIA CARES contributes to, or builds, projects that facilitate charitable outreach on behalf of the building industry.  BIA CARES believes in giving back to the community it serves and has donated more than $2.2 million to charitable projects and programs in San Diego County.
