BIA CARES TO DONATE $15,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS

BIA CARES DONATES $15,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO  COLLEGE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

BIA CARES, the charitable foundation of the Building Industry Association of San Diego County, awarded five College and one High School Scholarship on July 13th at its First Annual 3-Club Golf Challenge at Mission Bay Golf Course; proceeds of the fundraiser will benefit the BIA Cares Scholarship Program.  The Students received a combined total of $15,000 from the foundation.  The students all met the qualifications of academic excellence, community outreach, financial need and the desire to pursue a career in our industry.  This could be pursuing a career such as developer, contractor, architect, civil/structural/soils engineer, designer, interior designer, banker, accountant, planner, landscape architect, framer, carpenter, plumber, electrician or any other real estate and development related profession.

The student who received a High School Scholarship award is:

  • Alex Villa ($3,000) ~ Cal State San Marcos, pursuing a career in Civil Engineering.

The students who received a College Scholarship awards are:

  • Griffin Diemer ($3,000) ~ San Francisco State University majoring in Civil Engineering
  • Emily Reveles ($3,000) ~ University of California, San Diego, majoring in Electrical Engineering
  • Jack McSweeney ($3,000) ~ San Diego State University, majoring in Finance
  • Amy Pawlowski ($2,000) ~ San Diego State University, majoring in Civil Engineering
  • Evan Rossi ($1,000) ~ San Diego State University, majoring in Construction Engineering

BIA Cares awards Scholarships every year to those deserving students looking to pursue a career in our Industry here in San Diego.  Student applications will be available again in Spring 2018 on the BIA Cares website www.biacares.org.

BIA CARES, the charitable foundation of the Building Industry Association of San Diego County, awarded three College and four High School Scholarships on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. The students received a combined total of $15,000 from the foundation. The students all met the qualifications of academic excellence, community outreach, financial need and the desire to pursue a career in our industry. This could be pursuing a career such as developer, contractor, architect, civil/structural/soils engineer, designer, interior designer, banker, accountant, planner, landscape architect, framer, carpenter, plumber, electrician or any other real estate and development related profession.

The students who received a High School Scholarship award are:

  • David Linn ($4,000) ~ Westview High School, pursuing a career in Civil/Structural Engineering at Harvey Mudd College.

  • Trevor Pohlman ($2,000) ~ La Jolla High School, pursuing a career in Real Estate Development and Finance at USC.

  • Skylar Binney ($1,500) ~  Canyon Crest Academy, pursuing a career in Marketing at the University of Arizona.

  • Tyler Chambers ($1,500) ~ Del Norte High School, School Name, pursuing a career in Graphic Design at the University of Utah.

The students who received a College Scholarship award are:

  • Amy Powlowski ($3,000) ~ San Diego State University, majoring in Civil Engineering.

  • Errol Browning ($2,000) ~ San Diego State University, majoring in Construction Engineering.

  • Jacob Basinger ($1,000) ~ University of California Berkeley, Double Majoring in Geography and Legal Studies with a minor in City Planning.
