BIA CARES to Donate $15,000 in Scholarships to College and High School Students

BIA CARES, the charitable foundation of the Building Industry Association of San Diego County, has announced that they will award $15,000 in scholarships to high school, college and trade school students who are seeking a career in the building industry.

Students, ideally selected from outside our BIA family, must be full time, from San Diego County or going to school in San Diego and be pursuing a career such as a developer, contractor, architect, civil/structural/soils engineer, designer, interior designer, banker, accountant, land planner, landscape architect, framer, carpenter, plumber, electrician and other real estate and development related professions. Scholarships are based on qualifications including but not limited to academics, personal achievement and financial need. To apply for one of the scholarships log on to www.BIACares.org (click on “Projects”), complete the application and submit a copy of your transcripts by Friday, November 19, 2021. The Scholarship Committee will be awarding the scholarships in December 2021.

BIA CARES Awards $10,000 in Scholarships to College and High School Students in 2019

BIA CARES, the charitable foundation of the Building Industry Association of San Diego County, awarded two College and four High School Scholarships to deserving students. The Students received a combined total of $10,000 from the foundation. The students all met the qualifications of academic excellence, community outreach, financial need and the desire to pursue a career in our industry. This could be pursuing a career such as developer, contractor, architect, civil/structural/soils engineer, designer, interior designer, banker, accountant, planner, landscape architect, framer, carpenter, plumber, electrician or any other real estate and development related profession.

The students who received a High School Scholarship award are:

  • Blair Federhard ($2,000) ~ Graduate of Del Norte High School and pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering (pictured right)
  • Remy Reeb ($1,000) ~ Graduate of Cathedral Catholic High School and pursuing a degree in Marketing
  • Katherine Ivanjack ($1,000) ~ Graduate of Academy of Our Lady of Peace High School and pursuing a degree in Architecture / Urban Planning
  • Promit Iqbal ($1,000) ~ Graduate of El Camino High School and pursuing a degree in Structural Engineering (pictured left)

BIA Cares awards Scholarships every year to those deserving students looking to pursue a career in our Industry here in San Diego. Student applications will be available again in Spring 2021 on the BIA Cares website www.biacares.org.
