BIA CARES TO DONATE $20,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS

BIA CARES, the charitable foundation of the Building Industry Association of San Diego County, has announced that they will award $20,000 in scholarships to high school and college students who are seeking a career in the building industry.

Students, ideally selected from outside our BIA family, must be full time, from San Diego County or going to school in San Diego and be pursuing a career such as a developer, contractor, architect, civil/structural/soils engineer, designer, interior designer, banker, accountant, land planner, landscape architect, framer, carpenter, plumber, electrician and other real estate and development related professions.  Scholarships are based on qualifications including but not limited to academics, personal achievement and financial need.  To apply for one of the scholarships complete the application and submit a copy of your transcripts by May 31, 2019.  The Scholarship Committee will be awarding the scholarships in July 2019.

BIA CARES DONATES $20,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO  COLLEGE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN 2018

BIA CARES, the charitable foundation of the Building Industry Association of San Diego County, awarded five College and two High School Scholarships on July 19th at its 2nd Annual 3-Club Golf Challenge at Mission Bay Golf Course; proceeds of the fundraiser will benefit the BIA Cares Scholarship Program.  The Students received a combined total of $20,000 from the foundation.  The students all met the qualifications of academic excellence, community outreach, financial need and the desire to pursue a career in our industry.  This could be pursuing a career such as developer, contractor, architect, civil/structural/soils engineer, designer, interior designer, banker, accountant, planner, landscape architect, framer, carpenter, plumber, electrician or any other real estate and development related profession.

The students who received a High School Scholarship award are:

  • Chance McDaniel ~ San Diego State University, pursuing a career in Civil Engineering
  • Jessica Vanni ~ Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, pursuing a career in Architecture

The students who received a College Scholarship award are:

  • Skylar Binney ~ University of Arizona, majoring in Marketing
  • Mariana Nectoux ~ The New School of Architecture, majoring in Architecture
  • Evan Rossi ~ San Diego State University, majoring in Construction Engineering
  • Griffin Diemer ~ San Francisco State University majoring in Civil Engineering
  • Tyler Marshall ~ University of San Diego, majoring in Business
